Both Deceased Students Named in Brown University Shooting as Law Enforcement Continue Hunt for Perpetrator.

The pair of scholars who lost their lives in the weekend's mass shooting in Providence were honored at the start of the week – amid a widespread hunt for their assailant persisted following the discharge by Rhode Island officials of the sole person detained in connection in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

The young woman Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was called “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, according to the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which offered condolences for her at a service on Sunday.

Nine more persons were wounded in the weekend shooting in the school of engineering of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Law enforcement reported by the end of Sunday that a 24-year-old male detained in a police operation at a Hampton Inn about approximately 17 miles from the university earlier in the day was being released.

“We have a murderer out there,” said the state's top prosecutor, Peter Neronha.

Neronha explained, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you must reassess and head another way, and this is precisely what occurred over the last approximately one day.”
