Iran Claims Assault on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Widespread Counterattacks.

Thick black smoke was observed billowing over an area adjacent to the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet.

Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched operations across the region in retaliation for a significant and ongoing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone close to the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any damage is unclear and the US has remained silent.

Missile Defenses Activated

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - said they have shot down missiles in their airspace.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That initial attack - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted areas associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the government.

Regional Fallout

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," it added.

It said wreckage landed in a residential area in the capital, causing some material damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
