New information has come to light regarding the shocking deaths of renowned director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were found at their Brentwood, Los Angeles residence on Sunday.

The Discovery

A source indicates quoting a person close to the family, a therapist scheduled for an appointment was the first to notice something was wrong after being unable to gain access the residence. This individual then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives nearby.

When she went into the residence, Romy came upon her father's body. Accounts indicate she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Another individual who had gone with her promptly called 911. Following this, first responders discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Developments

Law enforcement have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of murder in the first degree, along with the use of a dangerous weapon, reportedly a knife. He is presently being held and is ineligible for bail.

Clarifications

The anonymous source challenged several previously reported details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a guesthouse on the estate, she did not identify him as a suspect at that moment.

The source also pushed back against widely reported notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "apprehensive" about Nick's actions in recent weeks. Rather the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."

This refutation applies to accounts of reportedly "erratic" conduct by Nick at a event hosted by Conan O'Brien on the night before the discovery. Although the source stated they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they maintained that suggestions of a "major confrontation" between the two were not correct.

Ongoing Inquiry Details

Per law enforcement sources, the coroner had still not confirmed as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Some media reports indicated the state of their bodies implied they had been deceased for some hours.

Nick Reiner was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, about 15 miles from the residence. He was set to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had not received medical clearance and would not be present until Wednesday or later.
