Six Suspects Apprehended Following €12 Million Armed Raid on Gold Processing Laboratory in France

A group of six individuals equipped with assault rifles and handguns detonated charges to break into a gold refining laboratory located in the city of Lyon, causing light wounds to five workers during what is being called the most recent prominent daytime heist to hit the country.

The bold operation was carried out on Thursday afternoon, with police forces rapidly detaining the individuals believed responsible and recovering the stolen goods estimated to be worth 12 million euros (£10.5 million), as stated by authorities.

Five employees of Laboratoires Pourquery were slightly hurt from the blast, and three of them were transported to hospital for examination, officials confirmed. A total of twenty-eight staff were inside the facility when the thieves struck.

The suspects, believed to be seasoned offenders, were detained a brief time later in the neighboring community of the town of Vénissieux, a source close to the investigation stated.

A female accomplice who participated in the robbery was taken into custody as well, according to law enforcement.

“Six suspects who utilized explosives in an attack on a metals processing plant in Lyon, France were apprehended red-handed,” the nation's interior minister declared on social media, commending law enforcement for their “firmness, rapid response and command”.

High-caliber firearms, handguns and detonation devices were recovered as well.

The robbery occurred as authorities on Thursday apprehended five additional individuals, featuring a main perpetrator, in connection with the bold raid on the Louvre museum.

Dozens of investigators have been searching for four robbers who used a vehicle with a hydraulic lift and cutting gear to break into an upper-level exhibition space at the renowned museum on October 19th, fleeing with ornaments assessed at around 88 million euros.
