Slot Insists He Is Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was natural for questions to be asked about his position after another convincing defeat against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth defeat in twelve games, marking the team's poorest run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I've received plenty of support from above,” Slot remarked.

“It would be great to change things and secure a win obviously but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Club Management

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his dialogues with the club's leadership, the head coach said:

“We communicate frequently. They assist for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they don’t call me all the time of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “In the normal discussions I perceive the belief. But I've not talked to them since this game yet so we'll see.”

Recurring Failings and Player Reaction

The manager highlighted recurring failings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, namely poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder remarked.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the words.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I play for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a spell like this with outcomes this poor.”

He finished, “But we still have the emblem on our chest. And as long as that badge is removed, we will always compete.”

“Our aim is to get this team back to the top, show everyone again the values of this club and why people call it the best team in the planet.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
