In the intensely contested realm of gaming, it's usual for fresh competitors to fade away as rapidly as they enter the landscape.
But the latest Battlefield is hoping to alter that.
Here comes the most recent addition in a long-standing military shooter line commonly positioned as a grittier response to Call of Duty.
The title has never quite been able to rival its best-known competitor in terms of revenue or user base, but there are signs the latest version could reduce the distance.
A trial weekend enabling gamers a chance to test the title in recent months broke records, and the excitement leading up to its debut has been massive.
However the endeavor is still a big gamble for developer the gaming giant, which has according to sources invested huge sums of dollars making it.

Creation Crew and Studio Partnership
A total of four development houses were developing the title under the Battlefield Studios initiative.
Among them are original series producer the Swedish studio, headquartered in Scandinavia, Los Angeles-based Motive developers and the Canadian studio in Canada.
The fourth, the UK studio, is based in England.

Responding To Earlier Mistakes
The new release follows the heels of the sci-fi the previous game, published previously to a poor feedback it struggled to bounce back from.
"It's likely that we would find it impossible to build and design the latest entry without the learnings we gained in the last release," she explains to us.
Among those insights was to get players engaged early, and the team initiated invite-only player playtests not long ago.
Their "reaction was explosively favorable," says Rebecka.
Another missing ingredient from the previous installment was a solo experience, which has been brought back for this release.
The UK studio creative lead the design director is the individual tasked with "ensuring those missions are as enjoyable and interesting as possible for the gamers."
In spite of reports that the size of the title had put a strain on the different developers partnering internationally to create the project, the director is upbeat about the endeavor.
"Partnering with different cultures, distinct backgrounds, it's a very engaging atmosphere to be part of every day," he explains.
"This whole strategy has been something new but something truly exciting because we are collaborating with individuals from all over the world."
Concerning the expectation on the developers, he says: "We feel stress but additionally it's motivating.
"This is a large project. It's probably the biggest that many of us have before worked on."
New Artist Contributes Innovative Perspective
That's certainly true of at least one team member, visual designer Vlad Kokhan.
The 21-year-old produces the visual ambiance that influence the mood, feel, and focus of the solo experience.
Vlad completed an training period at the developer preceding getting a position with them, and presently works part-time while concluding his VFX studies at Bournemouth University.
