It has been 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story movie debuted, establishing the animation giant as a leading film company and introducing viewers to beloved figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now household names.

In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a brief look into the storyline but leaving fans wondering how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang

In the teaser reveals the young girl — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a latest plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the teaser doesn't touch on is what Woody is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a carnival and assisting prize toys find good homes.

Certainly, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is somewhat puzzling, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And where is the stuntman toy (the star)?

Continuity from the Previous Film

At the very least, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip displays the insignia attached to her shirt.

It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the group.
