The visionary game developer, who helped create the immensely successful video game Call of Duty, has tragically died in a traffic collision in the state of California at the age of 55.

Zampella's death was confirmed by Electronic Arts, the publisher that controls Respawn Entertainment, the development studio that he helped create.

The renowned industry figure died after his automobile collided and was engulfed in flames on a highway in LA on Sunday morning, as reported by.

"This is a devastating loss, and we stand with his family and friends, those closest to him, and everyone impacted by his legacy," a representative from Electronic Arts said.
