Both are being considered with the coaching position at the Premiership title holders following the former manager's departure on the start of the week.

McKenna's Position on The Scottish Club

McKenna referred to Celtic as "a really big soccer institution" but stressed he is "deeply involved" of a "long-term project" with Ipswich Town.

The 39-year-old assumed control of Portman Road in recent years and guided the team to the Premier League with consecutive elevations, but they won just a handful of victories last campaign as they were demoted back to the Championship and they presently occupy twelfth place in the Championship.

"There have been such discussions," the London-born ex- Northern Ireland youth international said when asked about being on Celtic's shortlist.

"This isn't a matter I have given any thought to, or where any portion of my concentration is this week.

"I possess a special position here at a special club. And we're at a really important phase of the campaign. Everything external hasn't reached my awareness."

Background and Agreement Aspects

It has been suggested that McKenna would be willing to talk to the Scottish side given his childhood support.

"During youth, we all have our preferences," he said when questioned about those. "It's unlikely everyone has to publicly and declare what they were, but naturally it's a really big football club."

McKenna signed a fresh four-year contract in 2024 and was asked about his reported buyout clause.

"Throughout coaching agreements, there are provisions," he responded. "I'm unaware what my specific terms are and, if I did, I wouldn't tell you anyway!

"I tackle this role like I will remain Town's coach forever. I know that's not always going to be the case, but I'll always give maximum effort as long as I am here."

Bellamy's Situation

Bellamy played for Celtic on temporary transfer from Newcastle United in the mid-2000s, but the former Welsh striker is inclined to complete the ongoing World Cup qualification, a stance that would practically eliminate the mid-forties from assuming the Glasgow position.

Wales are presently third in their World Cup group behind group toppers the Red Devils and second-placed North Macedonia.

Wins over the minnows and North Macedonia in next month would book their position in the final qualifying round, but they are all but guaranteed of making those, due to a successful Nations League campaign, should they not finish as Group J second place.

Considering his current position, the Wales manager, whose agreement expires after Euro 2028, would not be available until after the play-offs at the earliest.
